Maurice Lacroix PT6188-SS001-430-001 is the kind of statuesque wrist accessory that refine your looks a dash of elegance, while allowing you to leisurely express your sportive side at once. And, just like the rest of the Pontos Chronographe timepieces, this gent’s 43mm watch also offers performance and reliability of the self-winding caliber ML112 within its superior Swiss construction.

Maurice Lacoix PT6188-SS001-430-001 43mm Pontos Chronographe Automatic for men

Just like what you’d expect of ML’s luxury timepieces, this sporty elegant wrist watch is crafted with enduring materials and quality components for longevity. Its sturdy round case is made of a premium grade stainless steel, which covered with sapphire glass on both sides to makes its construction even tougher. Its bracelet is made of genuine leather, while the whole watch is watertight to 50 meters to makes it even more practical to wear. Needless to say, the built quality, as well as its finishing are superb as expected.

Before going any further, to avoid some "confusion", we thought that it would be nicer for knowing a bit about this particular model that is often listed simply as PT6188-SS001-430, as some might found that there are two Maurice Lacroix Pontos Chronographe watches with stainless steel case and Blue dial that have this particular "simplified" model number --in which, they have different bracelet’s materials; leather and rubber. The truth is, they have a different model numbers. But, some merchants are often simplifying their listing by removing the watches’ "additional" three numbers; "001" for this one, and "002" for the other model.

Anyway, Maurice Lacroix PT6188-SS001-430-001 is a large size for gent’s average wrist. Just like the other steel on leather Pontos Chronographe, the watch is weighing around 122 grams. Its crafted round case that is handsomely finished in fine brush and high polish has a diameter of 43mm and approximately 15.7mm thick. Meanwhile, its luxurious Black crocs bracelet that is designed to accommodate 6.5 up to 8.5 inches wrist’s circumferences and comes equipped with a steel made deployant buckle clasp with twin push-button safety for convenient fitting is tapers from 21 mm to 17 mm wide.

Side. The timepiece’s brushed steel caseback that features a rounded sapphire display on its center is engraved with markings that inform some of its general information such as material, water resistance, and the serial numbering, and it is securely held in place by 5 screws. At the right hand side, there are skillfully designed push-pieces for its chronograph functions that retract into the case middle, in which, in between, lays a large steel-made pull-and-push crown that is fluted in radial pattern, and decorated with that famous “M” hallmarking atop.

Upfront, the sapphire crystal that shields this ML premium timepiece’s face is domed, has a better scratch resistance compared to that one at the caseback, and is further enhanced with an anti-reflective coating. The dial itself is a fascinating one, too. Contemporary in style, sharp looking with its elegant Blue sunray background, and has an appreciable layout design that offers a nice balance of style and read-ability.

Dial. On this steely Blue sun-brushed finished dial, there are applied “M”, along with painted White “Maurice Lacroix” and “Chronographe” at the 3 o’clock position. The dial also comprises faceted baton-shaped steel hour and minute hands that are tipped with “BGW9” SuperLuminova (Blue Lume), a slim central sweep seconds hand, and a set of applique stick hour markers with fluorescent materials. Furthermore, there are three Silver framed subsidiary with luminous tipped silver-tone hands. Its 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position as well as the 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position feature two-tone raised center with concentric circular guilloché pattern in Silver-Blue with painted White Arabic markers, and Blue outer ring with painted White stick markers that all are luminous. Meanwhile, the small seconds at the 9 o’clock position has an all Silver background with the same concentric circular guilloché patterned center, and painted markers in Blue. A legible date aperture is situated within the subsidiary at six, and, along the Silvered inner bezel, there are painted Black stick and Arabic markers for easy reference --with a scale of 1/4 a second.

Speaking of the movement, the caliber ML112 housed by this chronograph automatic watch is not particularly an exclusive (manufacture) movement. This cams integrated chronograph is an ETA 7750 based, which is personalized by Maurice Lacroix to comply with their own preference --which mostly, aesthetic. Typical to Valjoux 7750 based caliber, the ML-112 is “fairly loud”, and this 25 jewels movement is winding at a single direction. This calibre is beating at 28,800 alterations per hour, and when fully wound, it provides 46 hours of power reserve. Maurice Lacroix ML112 is not a chronometer grade, and as far as we know, this 13¼ lignes movement is rated to perform in between the elaboré and top grade of the original ETA 7750.

Closing this quick review with a pricing info, for all of its quality offerings, this gent’s steel on Black leather Blue dial Maurice Lacroix Pontos Chronographe PT6188-SS001-430 (001) "three hands, date" chronograph automatic watch is reasonably offered at an original manufacturer suggested retail price of $4,200.00.
