And inside, although it is not an exclusive calibre, the ETA 251.262 is one of the most reliable chronograph battery powered quartz movement out there that is not only precise, but also fairly rugged as well.

Design’s Perspective: Form and Functions

For gent’s average wrist, the TAG Heuer CJ1110.BA0576 is considerably a large size. The watch has a sturdy round case that is made of quality stainless steel 316L (surgical grade) with matt-finish, with a masculine diameter of 42mm, and is slim enough for a chronograph watch at 12.5mm thick only. It is fashioned with a sculpted lines that is simply gorgeous, and, thanks to the ergonomic design, its fits comfortably on the wrist. And speaking of the weight, overall, this solid steel on steel timepiece weighs around 172 grams.

Rear View. The adjustable Y-link bracelet that is made of the same materials as the case and is finished in an attractive fine brush is around 21mm wide, and it can fits with up to 7 inches wrist’s circumference --the length of the bracelet is around 17 cm. And speaking of convenient fitting, this Y-link bracelet comes equipped with a deployant folding clasp, which some might not satisfied with the fact that it doesn’t features an additional push-button safety, instead, it features a security flip-lock. Still, it is quite a satisfactory as is.

The bezel of this watch is an uni-directional rotating bezel. It has an engraved 60-minute diving scale with a single luminous marker at twelve atop, and is accented with a Clous de Paris edging that lends some aesthetic while makes it easier to rotate. At the case’s right hand side, lays a large steel crown that is fluted and hallmarked, in which alongside, there are two polished push-pieces for the chronograph functions. Typical to the timepiece that is watertight to 100 meters and tighter (like this particular timepiece that is 200m), the crown is a screw-down type. Furthermore, the watch caseback is a solid, screwed in type, and has several markings including the serial numbering.

Although you can say that this 42mm TAG Heuer Link is an entry level luxury timepiece, still, the face of this watch is covered with an extra durable sapphire crystal, and it has an anti-reflective coating as well.

Dial. The dial is done in Black, and it features three subsidiary with Silver outer ring, along with the brand’s emblem at the 12 o’clock position, “200 METERS” at the 3 o’clock position, “LINK” at the 9 o’clock position, and a tiny at the bottom that similar to the minute markers around the dial’s periphery, all are painted in White. It has four hands, which all are made of steel: baton styled hour and minute hands with SuperLuminova, a sweep central seconds, a centrally mounted chrono sweep hand with red tipping and luminescent for the 60-minute counter. The dial also comprise applique, faceted stick hour markers with luminous dots over, and a legible date aperture at the 4:30.

Due to the TAG Heuer CJ1110.BA0576 timepiece’s chronograph complication, this dial is a tad bit "busy", but, it does still manage to provides a nice degree of read-ability. And speaking of the sub-dials: the one at the 2 o’clock position are a 1/10 a second counter, while those at the 6 and 10 o’clock positions are small seconds and the 12-hour counter.

A Reliable Swiss Quartz Movement at Heart

Straightly speaking, this version of TAG Link employs a base ETA movement, the ETA 251.262. Some may wonder, why a base movement? But, as long as quality and reliability is your concern, this battery powered calibre is without a doubt, one of the best non-thermo-compensated quartz chronograph movement at its class, other than the ETA G15.261, its sibling. You’ll find lots of literature out there speaking about this. After all, this "non-rebranded" caliber is also one of the reasons of why this TAG Link can be an "affordable" luxury watch, as it goes without saying that its price would definitely higher if only it uses an exclusive movement.

ETA 251.262 itself is quite a sophisticated electronic quartz movement. It is a fairly slim 13¼ lignes chronograph caliber that measures 5mm thick only, containing 27 jewels, and operating at the frequency of 32.768 Hz. The one used in this watch is not a Chronometer grade, but, it manage to performs nicely with an average rate of deviation that is better than ± 10 secs per month, while its chronograph is guaranteed to performs with up to 1/10 a seconds precision.

The movement is compatible with a 394 Renata battery, in which, in a single replacement, it can provides an average of 24 months of battery life. Well, the manufacturer claims that would be up to 48 months, but, we don’t find that as an appropriate measurement as we don’t know exactly what is the "certain condition" they mention. Still, two years is good enough anyway.

The Review’s Closure

If what you’re looking for is a nice Swiss luxury chronograph watch that performs beautifully whether as a wrist accessory of a timekeeper, TAG Heuer CJ1110.BA0576 is definitely one of the toughest contender within the category you’re interested in.

The timepiece looks stylish, and it is versatile enough to be wear at any occasions. Not to mention that it is water resistant to 200 meters, which is sure to be handy in many circumstances. The movement is quite "basic", but it does accurate, reliable, and has a sophisticated functionality. Although you might not actually need that kind of precision, a 1/10 a second chronograph is definitely something to be appreciated as well. And, it also provides a good read-ability, too.

Just like its other steel on steel variants within the TAG Heuer Link Quartz Chronograph line-up, the watch is reasonably priced with an original manufactured suggested retail price of $2,300.00. In which, being not a new release, you could expect to be able to get it less than its MSRP. And just saying, this model is also available in White dial version as well: Ref. CJ1111.BA0576.
